M Loisel, Matilda’s husband, returned from his office one evening with a big letter. An invitation to a ball (party) at the Minister’s home was enclosed in the envelope. M Loisel assumed that his wife would be delighted to read the invitation, but Matilda was enraged and tossed the invitation away.
